Snapchat, Incorporated encourages artists and designers to exhibit their unique styles by creating and submitting Geofilters for approval. Geofilters are creative, colorful overlays that add location information and visual interest to users’ photo or video “snaps”. Once accepted into the Snapchat community, these overlays are available to enhance snaps in their specific geographic areas.
Using the colors of the American flag, I created a spirited Geofilter that can be superimposed on visitors’ photos and videos at the National Mall in Washington, DC. Accepted by Snapchat in January, my Geofilter has been used by thousands of residents and tourists for almost a year.
